One night about 1:30 am (on a night that Dave was working - of course!) I heard the biggest thud ever. I ran down the hall to Sam's room, threw open the door and hit Sam in the head with the door. I'm not sure who was more shocked, me - that he was out of his crib, or him - that I'd hit him in the head with the door. Anyway, he had climbed, leapt, fell, jumped, whatever out of his crib. I knew I couldn't put him back in there, because he'd just try to do it again, so Sam slept with him the rest of the night. That's the one and only time Sam's ever slept with me, and it will probably be the last. I didn't get any sleep! It's pretty cute - he just tries to snuggle closer and closer - but it makes it hard to sleep! So the next day we converted his crib to a toddler bed and he's been crib-free ever since. It was rough at first. You had to lay him down and then run out of the room before he made it out the door. He would just body slam the door over and over and over again trying to get out. Luckily, he figured out that we weren't going to let him out once we put him to bed before he put his body thru the door. Now, after we read books, he covers up, smiles, says "bye bye" and that's that. No more screaming. No more body slamming the door. Life is good! Here's a few pictures of the first night in the big boy bed. (before the screaming and body slamming) The last picture is when I snuck in after all the screaming stopped. He'd finally given up and fallen into bed. :)
