Dave is leaving tomorrow for training in Iowa. It's some sort of high-risk SWAT training. He's excited about it and will be back on Friday, just in time for Sam's birthday party on Saturday evening.
I really like my new job at the health department. I had to fill my brain full of facts about rabid bats this past week though, because the state put Boone County under a rabies alert, due to the large number of bats (about 8%) that tested positive for rabies. The media was all over it and I can't tell you how many times in the past week I said, "Just don't touch bats." You would think that would be common knowledge but apparently it's not. So to all of my blog friends out there, if you see a bat, don't touch it.
Maggie starts preschool on Monday. She is so excited and so am I...I just can't believe she's already going to preschool. We bought her school supplies last night and she was very excited about the glue. Yikes. She went to Vacation Bible School at Fairview United Methodist Church last week and loved it. On Sunday morning the VBS kids were supposed to sing their songs during church. Well, Maggie just stood up there and waved and Dave and me, but it was still cute!
Sam is walking more and more and is pretty steady at it, until Maggie comes along to "help" him. Then he usually falls over. He has another HUGE tooth in the back and got his first real haircut this week(at a salon, not me butchering it at home!). And he's discovered that he likes peaches. He usually eats one at every meal. Then of course he smears peach juice in his hair, which makes him look like Cameron Diaz in Something About Mary!
Anyway, here are a few pictures from the past couple of weeks:
Yes, his hair is really that crazy. It's a little better now, after the haircut, but that kid has some crazy hair!

I laughed out loud at the Something About Mary reference -- I was totally thinking I should post a similar thing about Dane! I'm convinced our sons were brothers in a former life. If that's the case, beware, because Dane is the most destructive kid I know. Just before lunch today, he ripped 20+ keys off the laptop! Ugh!
